To all Pray Without Ceasing Coordinators
Dear Friend,
As we draw near to the end of Pray Without Ceasing,
the year of prayer for the Methodist Church, I am greatly
encouraged by all the stories and reports that have
been received and the enthusiasm that this has generated
and ignited within our churches.
The question now arises "How do we keep this going?"
When the Rev David Deeks General Secretary of the
Methodist Church visited the Headway Executive he said
that he hoped that we would give a lead in prayer within
the Methodist Church. As it turned out our young people
have been the ones to do that, but maybe now is the
time for us to show our continuing support by picking
up the baton and running with it.
It would be such a shame if all this energy and vision
were allowed to fade away. I hope you agree. So my question
is how can we, in Headway, support you in maintaining
this momentum?
If you believe you are being led to keep this work
and ministry of prayer, alive within your District,
please get back to me with your ideas and suggestions
as to what would be most helpful. We in Headway will
do all we can to support you.
Meanwhile, can I bring two things to your attention;
Firstly, postcards are available, which encourage all
Methodists worldwide to revive the Wesleyan Flame by
following John Wesley's example and fasting each Friday.
I can let you have details where to get more of these
if you request them from me.
Secondly, to share this thought - the Salvation Army
were the first denomination to have a year of prayer
(William Booth was a Methodist before he broke away
and started the Salvation Army) This has been followed
by our own denomination (John Wesley was an Anglican
Priest) Could it be that God is wanting the Anglican
Church to be the next denomination to have a year of
prayer? Now that's something to pray about!
I hope to hear from you soon.
Yours in Christ Jesus
