Bulletin 105 Date : 20th Jul 2007
Junction 24

Earlier this year I received a call from Rev. Manville Wiles of the Castle Donington Circuit who I have known for some years. He asked me to come and talk to him about a vision he had for starting a new outreach venture in Kegworth based at the Whitehouse Hotel, just off junction 24 of the M1 motorway. We met at the hotel and Manville explained his vision and invited me along to a planning meeting to talk with the team involved in its development.

I have to admit that, at first, I found it hard to decipher what the vision actually looked like. But what I did encounter was a team of people from a variety of churches of different denominations who were engaging deeply with the movement of God’s Spirit. It soon became apparent through the meeting I attended and the subsequent prayer breakfasts that this was not the enthusiasm of people, but a genuine missionary activity of God through the Holy Spirit. All we had to do was to get on board and understand where God was leading, and this is something the team have done magnificently.

Before my meeting with Manville, there had already been clear signs that God was moving because of the way that the hotel itself had cooperated with and encouraged the project to get off the ground. I felt privileged to be part of the work in its early stages and sensed that prayer and obedience would be the key ingredients for making this project into the success that it deserves to be. So what is it?

JUNCTION 24 – a new and relevant road to faith.
Essentially it will be a gathering which will meet every Sunday evening at 8pm, starting on September 30th, in the Whitehouse Hotel. There are three adjacent rooms which can accommodate over 100 people in total. The event will be a place for people to meet and make friends, to listen to contemporary Christian music by top quality Christian musicians and to hear the gospel presented in a relevant and contemporary manner by top speakers including the Bishop of Sherwood, Tony Porter, J John, Rob Cotton (Bible Society), Roger Carswell and lowly me. The principle aim is to bring new people to faith in Jesus Christ.

The project team have organised publicity in all the local press and have also targeted the campus at Sutton Bonington in order to engage with university students. Please pray for this venture and pass on your encouragement to Manville and the rest of the circuit as they trust God in the early stages. The first meeting will be on September 30th at 8pm.
